Author/Translator Bill Porter (“Red Pine”) Talks and Workshop: Jan. 31, Feb. 1, & Feb. 2

BodhiMind Center and Springs Mountain Sangha are pleased to be hosting 3 events by Bill Porter, well-known author and, working under the name “Red Pine,” translator of Chinese and Sanskrit texts. After serving in the army and attending graduate school at Columbia University, Porter moved to a Buddhist monastery in Taiwan and lived with the monks and nuns for 4 years, then worked at English-language radio stations in Taiwan and Hong Kong. His translations include Chinese classical texts, poetry, and Buddhist sutras, such as the Taoteching, the Heart Sutra, and Collected Songs of Cold Mountain. He currently lives in Port Townsend, Washington.

WorkShop: The Heart Sutra: The Mother of Buddhas. Sat., Feb. 2, 1:00-3:00 PM.
