Community Out of Chaos: Change Now!
Please join us to commemorate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his continuing legacy on Monday, January 18, 2021 as a part of our annual community events. This year’s events will be virtual to keep our community safe and in concordance with COVID-19 guidance and guidelines.
As usual, the MLK Day Community Events will be a fundraiser on behalf of the NAACP and Pikes Peak Justice & Peace Commission through ticket sales. Tickets can be purchased here; the suggested donation is $5 but we welcome you to give as much, or little, as you are able and do not want cost to be a burden.
Tentative Schedule
The start and end times (8 am – 12:15 pm) are confirmed but individual session times are subject to small changes. The final schedule, including Zoom access links, will be sent out to event participants the day before the event.
8 am – Opening Convocation: Enjoy a welcome by community, campus, and spiritual leaders, performances from local artists, and reflections on this year’s theme
9 – 10:30 am: Concurrent Breakout Sessions: Engage in discussions, learn about current topics, and enjoy performances
10:30 – 11:25 am: Keynote Speaker Address by Past President & CEO of NAACP & Professor of the Practice of Public Leadership and Social Justice at the Harvard Kennedy School.
11:30 – 12 pm: Food for Thought Dialogue Groups
12 – 12:30 pm: Closing Musial Performances
7 pm: Launch of the Cleo Parker Robinson Virtual Performance
