Introduction to Zen – September 21 – 22

Go straight on the narrow mountain road with 99 curves

An Introduction to Zen

Zen, a meditation-centered Buddhist tradition, starts and ends with your very life. We will explore the unexpected curves and bumps that are the very essence of Zen practice and what can it be like when that road straightens out.

This time together, beginning with a Friday evening and then again on Saturday morning, will allow us the time and space to explore, moment-by-moment, how it is to sit in Zen Meditation, share tea, and discover Zen Koans (which include “Go straight on a narrow mountain road with 99 curves”). We will also have a Dharma talk by Roshi, Sarah Bender.

This is not so much of a “class about meditation”, but will be Meditation itself.  Prepare to Dive In! We will explore postures and positions for Sitting Meditation; experience Walking Meditation and ways to explore the world in front of us.

There is time for discussion, as well as time for silence. This class is facilitated by Frank Actis.

Beginning and experienced meditators are welcome, from any and all traditions.
