Springs Mountain Sangha September 2019 Newsletter

Ongoing

5:15 Dharma Downstairs: before Monday night meditation, at Shove Chapel.

Every Monday evening, in the Sacred Grounds downstairs room from  5:15 to 6:00,  some of us meet for informal Dharma conversation, led this month by sangha members as Sarah is away, except for September 9, when she’ll be leading.

Anyone is welcome to join in on any Monday, and no registration, previous study or experience with our community is required.  Our discussions bring each topic to meet exactly what is going on for us in our lives, in our world.

Place:  Shove Chapel downstairs from the north entrance.

LOOKING AHEAD

OCTOBER

Autumn Week-Long Deep Meditation Retreat with Sarah Bender, Roshi
The Abbey at Canyon City

Save the Dates!  October 21 to 27

Right now, in the bright, long days of summer, it’s a bit hard to picture October, with its shorter days and barer landscape.  But it will come, offering an invitation to turn the light inward, to take stock and notice how our feet land on the path at this moment. The heart may be noticing the riches of the year, and also the losses, and the burdens—-what can be treasured, what can be set down, what wants attention or nurture.
We find that it’s a wonderful time to put down all the doing for a week and step aside together into the simpler, slower rhythm of retreat.   You might allow yourself this odd luxury of fasting. Enjoying each other’s presence in silence and stillness, entering the deepest inquiry within this field of encouragement is a rare thing.
More information about cost and registration will be coming, but for now, we hope you will plant the seeds of the retreat by committing the time and resources to be part of it.
